Roster Templates
Templates let you save a roster pattern and reapply it to new windows, saving time when you follow a recurring schedule.
Saving a Template
- Open a roster window that has the shift pattern you want to reuse.
- Click Save as Template.
- Enter a name for the template (e.g., "Summer weekday pattern" or "Weekend rotation").
- Click Save.
The template captures all non-cancelled shifts as relative patterns. It stores day offsets and times rather than absolute dates, so it can be applied to any date range.
What a Template Stores
Each shift in the template includes the following:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Day offset | Position relative to the window start (0 = first day, 1 = second day, etc.) |
| Start time | Shift start time |
| End time | Shift end time |
| Break (minutes) | Length of the unpaid break |
| Day type | Normal, V, X, AP, or TS |
| Department | Department assignment, if set |
| Open shift | Whether the shift is unassigned (open for claiming) |
Employee assignments are not saved in templates, since the same employees may not be available in future periods.
Applying a Template
- Create a new roster window in Draft status.
- Click Apply Template.
- Select the template you want to use.
- The system creates shifts using the window's start date plus each shift's day offset.
Overnight shifts (where the end time is before the start time) are handled automatically -- the end date is set to the following day.
After applying a template, you can edit the generated shifts as needed before publishing.
Managing Templates
- View templates: See all templates available for a location.
- Rename: Edit a template's name at any time.
- Delete: Remove a template you no longer need (soft delete -- it can be restored if needed).
- Overwrite: To update a template, open a roster window with the new pattern, click Save as Template, and select the existing template to overwrite it.
