Shift Pulse

Shift Pulse captures a quick daily sentiment rating from employees after they clock out. It gives managers and admins an early indicator of staff wellbeing and helps surface operational issues before they escalate.

How It Works

After every clock-out -- both on the kiosk and in the web app -- employees are shown five smiley faces representing a 1-to-5 rating. Responding is entirely optional and takes a single tap.

For low ratings (1 or 2), a comment field appears so the employee can briefly explain what went wrong. Comments are optional.

Viewing the Dashboard

  1. Navigate to Shift Pulse in the sidebar (visible to managers and admins).
  2. Select a date range using the From and To date pickers.

The dashboard shows:

SectionDescription
Average RatingThe overall average score for the selected period, with a matching emoji.
Response RateThe percentage of clock-outs that received a pulse rating.
Total ResponsesThe number of pulse ratings submitted.
Rating DistributionA horizontal bar chart showing how many responses fell into each rating (1--5).
Daily TrendA bar chart showing the average rating for each day in the period. Hover over a bar to see the exact value and response count.
By LocationA breakdown of average rating and response rate per location. Useful for spotting location-specific issues.

Low Ratings (Admin Only)

Company admins see an additional Low Ratings section at the bottom of the dashboard. This table lists individual pulse responses with a rating of 1 or 2, showing:

  • Date
  • Employee name
  • Rating
  • Comment (if provided)

Managers do not see this section -- they only see aggregated data.

Tips

  • A low response rate itself is a signal -- if employees are not engaging, it may indicate the survey appears at an inconvenient time or that trust is low.
  • Watch for day-of-week patterns (e.g., consistently lower scores on weekends) and location outliers.
  • Use the comment data from low ratings to identify recurring themes such as understaffing or equipment issues.
